How the Appointment Works
- Call to identify the participants and explain whether the results are for personal information, court, agency or another official purpose.
- Bring government-issued photo identification and any written instructions from the requesting organization. For a child, confirm identification, consent and guardian requirements before the appointment.
- The collector verifies the required information, completes the documentation and collects cheek-swab specimens using the process appropriate for the order.
- The laboratory processes the specimens, and results are delivered to the authorized recipient according to the order instructions.
Court, Agency and Immigration Requests
Requirements vary by requesting organization. Bring the written instructions and confirm the required laboratory, participant documentation and chain-of-custody process before collection. Legal or immigration testing may require an AABB-accredited laboratory and specific coordination; acceptance should be confirmed with the court, agency or immigration authority requesting the test.
